Heidi Klum Flared

Heidi Klum Flared, Heidi Klum was spotted out and about in LA this weekend sporting a rather questionable pair of flares [above], forcing Grazia Daily to take action. Yes, the trend is a tricky one to master, even if you are a superdupermodel, but worn right, flares can be a girl’s best friend. No, really. And that's why we've helpfully stepped in to bring you our failsafe rules for flare-wearing. Heidi, take note.

1. First of all, pair with heels a la Kelly Rowland. They work best with a platform, wedge or something similarly chunky and retro.

2. As for the top half, under no circumstance will a baggy, oversized jacket or top work well with the multitude of fabric that is a flare and that's where La Klum went so wrong. Her check kimono-style jacket was, in retrospect, an awful idea.

3. Keep knitwear simple and slimline and steer clear of pussy bow blouses to help minimise the fussiness. Last week, style maestro Jessica Alba donned hers with a black and white perfect-fit shirt and monochrome tote, par exemple.

4. Know your limitations, people! If you’re a petite lady, opt for a slimmer pair of flares as excess baggy jean on your thighs will swamp you. If you fancy a slimming effect, go for a navy or black pair, just like trend-setting Rachel Bilson.

5. Finally, the accessories. With chunky shoes and hipster flares, it could all get a bit fancy-dress so try to keep handbags, jewellery and scarves modern to update the look. Good old Rachel Zoe is a pro at this.
