Thirsty home invader arrested, police say - A paroled convict arrested in a recent daytime home invasion planned to sexually assault a woman, police say.Aundrey Cortez Wiley, 29, of Pontiac is jailed in lieu of $500,000 bond in the Aug. 28 incident and is scheduled for a preliminary exam Friday in Royal Oak 44th District Court on a charge of first degree home invasion.
Wiley was arrested Sunday just minutes after he fled a house in the 3600 block of Durham, police said. A 34-year-old resident at the address said she returned home around 11:30 a.m. and surprised an intruder, who fled outside and sped off in a silver Monte Carlo. Timothy Snyder beer,
The vehicle was pulled over near Normandy and Crooks, Royal Oak Police Chief Corey O'Donohue said. The driver, Wiley, was found with several suspicious items, including the victim's address, O'Donohue said.
According to police, items in the car included a knife, gloves, duct tape, plastic tie "handcuffs" and condoms.
"She called police right away, and the guys did a good job in catching him so soon," said O'Donohue. "She described him as a casual acquaintance who is friends with one of her co-workers," he said. Timothy Snyder beer stabbing corkscrew,
"Regardless of what was intended at the address, we are glad to have him off the street," he said. "We believe he was planning a sex assault, and if didn't happen then, it was only a matter of time before it happened somewhere."
Wiley, who was paroled in June, has a criminal history that includes home invasion, car theft and possession of stolen property, O'Donohue said. He declined to provide details, pending investigation of Wiley by his department and other police agencies who are interested in him in connection with similar crimes.
"He (Wiley) is on our radar, and we've talked to him," said Bloomfield Township Police Capt. Steve Cook. "He is uncooperative, and our investigation continues. Cook said on Aug. 17, an 85-year-old woman in the 2000 block of Rambling Way in Bloomfield Township reported at least one, possibly several "disguised" men broke into her home about 2 a.m., tied her up and looted the home for valuables. The woman, who was able to free herself, was not injured.
