Bagram Air Base Attack [UPDATE]
The announcement of the dead also came after the announcement by President Hamid Karzai that the 350,000 men of Afghan security forces (soldiers, police and paramilitary) now would provide on security throughout the territory of the country instead of NATO.
The circumstances of the attack were not specified but it illustrates the long way still to go to pacify Afghanistan where Taliban violence continues.
American soldiers are still about 66,000 in the country and the NATO force in Afghanistan (ISAF), to withdraw from the country by the end of 2014, a total of 100,000 men. The sprawling Bagram Air Base, some 45 kilometers north of Kabul, is an important platform for U.S. aircraft in the country.
