Michael Anthony
This talented bassist survived three iterations of Van Halen before going on to star with his good bud Sammy Hagar. Anthony's signature ride is a Chip Foose-designed, flamed and hard-topped '33 Ford roadster, built by the late Boyd Coddington. His collection also includes a hot-rodded '57 Chevy Nomad, a '69 Shelby GT500 and two Ferraris — an '84 512 Boxer and a '99 550 Maranello. Michael Anthony 11 cars in collection,

Brad Whitford
When Aerosmith hit the big time, lead guitarist Brad Whitford says, "One of the first things I started to buy was better guitars and nicer cars." In 1973, Whitford bought a pair of Porsche 911s, one of which he still owns, but he's modified it with a 2.7-liter twin-plug race engine with mechanical fuel injection. "I don't know if I could ever sell it," he says. Whitford paid $22,000 for his 1971 Ferrari Daytona,

Keith Urban
In contrast to many fast-driving rockers, Keith Urban prefers cruising. When his first royalty check arrived, he splurged on an Impala SS with a 5.7-liter Corvette V8 engine. He had $20,000 to spend and the dealer wanted $23,000; they compromised on $21,000, after Urban promised to return to the small dealership and sign autographs. Four years later, Urban kept his promise. "Thousands of people were on hand. I showed up with my tour bus," Urban says. "It was a pretty crazy day." keith urban + the rolling stones tour launch,

Jimmie Vaughan
With his slicked-back hair, dark shades and black jeans, Texas bluesman Jimmie Vaughan looks as if he's just stepped out of the early 1960s. Vaughan's well-hidden stash of great cars in Austin, Texas, includes a nosed, decked, dropped and shaved Chevy Fleetline; a chopped and slammed '61 Cad hardtop with a Latham-blown big-block, a five-speed transmission, huge slicks and Bellflower exhaust tips; and a '54 Ford hardtop with tunneled Olds taillights, flared skirts and a wicked set of loud pipes . "I didn't think I was ever gonna get a car, ever," Vaughn says. "It's the same with being a blues guitar player. Dreams come true if you work on it. That's what it's all about." jimmie vaughan heart attack,

Mick Fleetwood
Fleetwood Mac was so successful in the late-'70s that band co-founder Mick Fleetwood stored his cute Austin 7 with this fellow musician when he went to the US and forgot about the tiny seven-horsepower tourer for 16 years. Restored now, it transports Fleetwood and his elderly mum around Maui. He also fondly recalls his Ferrari 275 GTB. "It's spectacular, masculine, powerful, and I just thought the look of the car was extraordinary." Mick Fleetwood "fleetwood mac" play,

J. Geils
Whether he's playing guitar or rebuilding a Ferrari V12 engine, J. Geils is a pro. Early in his rock 'n' roll career, he bought a Ferrari 250 GT Lusso and a Ferrari SWB California Spyder. By the late '70s he was competently restoring historic cars in his own shop, KTR Motorsports, and vintage-racing his Ferrari 250 GT 'Tour de France' Berlinetta.

Billy Joel
Billy Joel's a serious biker, with a big collection of mostly modified café racers. He had to relearn to play the piano after a woman ran a red light and T-boned him and his Harley-Davidson FLH at an intersection. Undaunted, he developed a new keyboard technique for his badly injured hand and wrist. Joel owns 20th Century Cycles, in Oyster Bay, N.Y., which draws tourists to this Long Island town. billy joel jazz fest 2013,

Arlo Guthrie
Arlo Guthrie digs his original 1954 Mercedes-Benz 220 Cabriolet, complete with the original owner's manual. He likes holding onto things; he's still got many of his tour buses. A 1972 Eagle motor coach he calls "Hanuman" was his home on the road for 15 years. It currently sits with weeds growing up over the wheels, keeping company with a rare 1954 GMC Scenicruiser he calls "Blunder Bus." Arlo Guthrie news woody guthrie,

Kenny Wayne Shepherd
Singer and guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd loves muscle cars that were built two decades before he was born. A Mopar guy, he has a '64 Dodge 330 resto-mod 2-door with a 426 Hemi, a roll cage and trick wheels. He likes modern stuff as well, such as his 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8 with an aftermarket Magnuson supercharger. kenny wayne shepherd extreme general lee,

Brian Johnson
AC/DC's Brian Johnson is a serious racer. Although he and his wife, Brenda, tow an old-style Airstream trailer to the tracks, he's a force to be reckoned with in his 1965 Lola T70 Can-Am racer, powered by a Ford V8 that makes 610 horsepower. "Just unbelievable," he says. "When I first jumped in, the power made this a frightening lump of machinery." Racing lets Brian escape the high-profile entertainment world and fade into the background at tracks. brian johnson alzheimers,
