Lindsey Vonn airlifted
Lindsey Vonn airlifted, Lindsey Vonn was airlifted to a hospital on Tuesday, Feb. 5, after she crashed during the super-G (super giant slalom) at opening day of the Alpine Ski World Championships in Austria. According to reports, the 28-year-old Olympic gold-medalist injured her right knee in the accident.

Vonn, a four-time overall World Cup champion, apparently lost her balance while landing after a jump. Her right ski came off immediately, and she slid off course and into a gate.

Medical personnel tended to her injuries for 12 minutes before she was taken by helicopter to a hospital. During this time, the race -- which had already been postponed for more than three hours because of fog -- was temporarily delayed. It resumed after 15 minutes. No other information on Vonn's condition was immediately available from her U.S. team.
