Ra Dickey Trade, The National League Cy Young winner, and the Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to a two-year, $25-million contract extension that will allow the Jays’ trade with the New York Mets to be completed.

That figure is what Dickey was seeking from the Mets, ESPN’s Buster Olney reported. Some of the money will be paid immediately this year, along with his $5 million salary, in a signing bonus to offset the difference in taxes between the United States and Canada, Olney wrote. Just how much of the deal will be front-loaded is still being negotiated. The Toronto Sun and Fox Sports first reported the deal, which is contingent upon a physical.

The Mets will receive Travis d’Arnaud, a catching prospect, and Noah Snydergaard, a Class A right-hander. The teams will also swap catchers, with Josh Thole going to Toronto and John Buck to the Mets.

Dickey joins a Toronto rotation that includes Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle from the blockbuster trade/fire sale with the Miami Marlins, Brandon Morrow and Ricky Romero. Dickey is only the fourth reigning Cy Young winner to be traded before the beginning of the following season.
