Mr. Andoh's Pennine Diary . . . second place in Bookseller Diagram Prize

Mr. Andoh's Pennine Diary . . . second place in Bookseller Diagram Prize, Poo in Thai means crab--Cooking with Poo is a Thai book which is published by charitable organisation and it has won the book title award. The book is written by Bangkok chef Saiyuud Diwong whose nickname is Poo. Poo is Thai for crab.

The book is of 114 pages. Diwong’s book gets its unusual title from her nickname.

In 1978, the Oddest Book Title award was conceived as a way to avoid boredom at the annual Frankfurt Book Fair.

There is no prize for the author of the winning title – instead The Bookseller magazine, which runs the award, usually gives a bottle of fairly passable plonk to whoever spotted the title.

This year the three most voted-for works contain the words ‘poo’, ‘sexer’ and ‘penis’ in the title, it appears that this year’s prize will go down in history as a blue year.

Organized by Bookseller magazine, the Diagram Prize for Oddest Book Title of the Year has spent the last 34 years celebrating the silly.
