Kim Kardashian Church

Kim Kardashian Church, Kim Kardashian gives generously to a foundation for the terminally ill and tithes 10 percent of her earnings to a church co-founded by her mother.

The 30-year-old gadabout, daughter of the late power lawyer Robert Kardashian and Kris Jenner, and stepdaughter of track star Bruce Jenner, has made a career of being stylish, attractive, wealthy and everywhere. The family stars in "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" on E!, and Kim and her sister also star in a new spin-off, "Kourtney and Kim Take New York."

The second-oldest Kardashian sister has proved masterful at leveraging her fame, turning star power into cash via perfume, workout videos, a clothing line, online store ShoeDazzle and various endorsements. She even threw herself a 30th birthday party and charged guests $1,000 to $2,500 per table to attend.

In an interview with CNN's Piers Morgan that aired Thursday night, Kim admitted to purchasing a $115,000 watch but also marked herself a committed philanthropist. She donates time and generous amounts of money to the Dream Foundation, a nonprofit granting wishes to terminally ill adults. (AOL News profiled the Dream Foundation last year.)

Kardashian also tithes, or gives 10 percent of her income, to Life Change Community Church in Calabasas, Calif.

"Whatever it is, I give 10 percent away to the church, and that's what I was taught. Every year, absolutely," she told Morgan.

Kim's mother and Pastor Brad Johnson, who plummeted from grace and into scandal in 2007, founded the church. Johnson previously led the 5,000-member flock of Calvary Community Church in Westlake, Calif., including Kris Jenner. When word leaked of his marital infidelities, Johnson left the church and attempted suicide multiple times.

The Kardashians know from scandal, having been involved in several. Kim herself was the co-star of a leaked sex tape in 2007, and the sisters were sued by R&B singer Brandy's mother for allegedly running up her credit card without permission. The lawsuit was eventually dismissed.

The family no doubt understands the value of second chances.

After Johnson left Calvary, Jenner remained a firm believer in his oratorical gifts. She tracked him down at the Starbucks where he worked and convinced him to return to the ministry.

He officiated when Khloe Kardashian and Lakers' forward Lamar Odom married in the fall 2009. The ceremony appeared on the family's reality series, and Life Change Community Church opened four months later. The church, which meets in an old movie theater, preaches the gospels of Jesus and second chances.

"People really do get a fresh start with God," Johnson told the Ventura County Star. "If my life can tell that story, then I can do some good."
