"We got together on Nov. 13. 'Do you want to be my girlfriend?' he asked on MSN [the chat service MSN Messenger]. Then we decided to get engaged, which we did on Dec. 9," said the "Vampire Woman," Michelle Gustafsson.
The couple are fellow inmates at the high-security Karsuddens psychiatric facility near Katrineholm, being treated for their highly unusual, violent crimes, The Local reported Monday.
Gustafsson was convicted of stabbing a man to death in Stockholm in 2010.
On her personal blog, Gustafsson, who says she has no memory of that killing, had written about killing people on the Stockholm subway and posted pictures of herself with a knife and a power saw.
Her fiance, Isakin Jonsson, or "the Skara Cannibal," was convicted in March 2011 of the gruesome killing of Helle Christensen, a mother of five who was his girlfriend at the time. Police said that after stabbing the woman to death, Jonsson cut off her head and other body parts, some of which he then ate.
"I love Michelle. I have never met anyone like her. I'd like to lead a non-criminal life," Jonsson said.
Gustafsson and Jonsson do not know when, or if, they will be released -- both are serving non-fixed sentences -- but say they are looking forward to living together someday.
"We want to get to live together, keep dogs and spend time on our hobbies, piercing and tattoos," Gustafsson said.
