They didn’t stop there though – oh, no – some stars took their trends and ran with them and none quite so enthusiastically as New Girl actress Zooey Deschanel who wowed all with her tuxedo nail art.
The actress tweeted a picture of her nails en route to the awards ceremony, writing: “I’m wearing a gown but my nails are wearing tuxedos!!!”
The newly single actress – who was nominated for her new TV show New Girl but narrowly lost out to Idris Elba – maintained her reputation for quirky styling even adding a bespoke dress by Prada.

The top half of the dress was embellished with black and emerald green pearls as well as an ivory pearl collar.
Both Zooey and Reese Witherspoon opted for ’60s beauty with bouffant hair and a flick of liquid eyeliner
