Missing Boy Bellevue
Missing Boy Bellevue, Toddler Sky Metalawa was reported missing Sunday morning in Bellevue, Wash., by his mother Julie Biryukova. She claimed to have left the 2-year-old alone in the car, according to KREM.com, after it ran out of gas, taking her 4-year-old daughter with her to the gas station. She was gone about an hour and claims the little boy was missing when she returned to the car. From there, the story just keeps getting weirder. Here are some key details from the story so far:
* Once at the gas station, Biryukova called a friend to come get her, according to an employee there. Biryukova apparently began walking back to the car and the friend picked her up en route. When they arrived back at the car, Sky wasn't there.
* Biryukova seems to not have bought gas once she arrived at the gas station. Police said there was no gas can at the car when they arrived. Police were able to start the car, though they cautioned that this sometimes happens when a car has not run for a while.
* Police said one door of the car was unlocked when they arrived and there was no sign of forced entry.
* Both Biryukova and Sky's father Solomon Metalawa were arrested in Dec. 2009 for leaving Sky alone in a vehicle for almost an hour in a Target store parking lot. The reckless endangerment charges were dismissed on condition the parents serve probation, do community service and attend parenting classes.
* The parents had just reached an agreement Tuesday in a custody dispute involving both children, and Biryukova was seeking to revisit it on the grounds that she allegedly agreed to it under pressure.
* Solomon Metalawa claims Biryukova suffers from mental illness and was involuntarily committed to a mental health clinic in 2010, according to Associated Press.
* Solomon Metalawa's polygraph Monday was inconclusive. His lawyer says that's because he was "too tired" when he took it and he will take another today.
* Biryukova has previously charged Solomon with domestic violence. She said he beat her for letting then 4-month-old Sky oversleep in June 2010, the Daily Mail reported. In Dec. 2010, a social worker found "by a preponderance of the evidence" that Solomon Metalawa hit his daughter hard enough to bruise her. The social worker also noted bruises on Sky who was not old enough to talk at the time.
* The couple purportedly married when Solomon Metalawa was about to be deported, the Daily Mail said.
The missing toddler, Sky Metalawa, is half Asian-Indian and half Caucasian, 2-foot-2-inches tall and weighs 39 pounds. He has brown eyes, and dark hair worn in a buzz cut. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black and aqua blue sweatpants and white socks.
