Michael Gough dies
British actor Michael GoughMichael Gough died March 17, 2011 at his home in England at the age of 93. Knowing that his health was failing the actor wanted to survive until St. Patrick’s Day; he made it. Gough was surrounded by his family at the time of his death.He was born November 23, 1917 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Gough is most notably known for his role as the butler Alfred Pennyworth in the “BatmanBatman” franchise; playing opposite Michael KeatonMichael Keaton, Val Kolmer, and GeorgeGeorge Clooney. But Gough got his start in the thirties on the stage in London in the Old Vic Company before moving to the West End stage and the National Theatre. Gough won a Tony Award for his role in “Bedroom Farce” in 1979.
His first on screen role was in 1946 in the TV movie “Androcoles and the Lion”.
