Euston train disruption power problems
Euston train disruption power problems, Commuters in and out of London's Euston station will continue to suffer delays this morning, despite engineers working through the night to repair power cables at Watford Junction.Virgin Trains will be subject to delays and cancellations on Monday, a Network Rail spokesman confirmed, although the London Midland service should be running largely as normal.
"Some Virgin services are likely to be impacted due to displacement of trains and crews. A fuller service is expected to resume from around midday," the spokesman said.
On Sunday more than 100 trains were cancelled on the West Coast Line in and out of Euston station after overhead power cables fell down and blocked the rail tracks.
The problem came just days after a light aircraft crashed on to the line near Strafford, killing three people.
Chris Gibb, chief operating officer for Virgin Trains, admitted it had been a difficult few days for the rail operator.
"No sooner had we fixed the problems caused by the light aircraft that crashed near Stafford, unfortunately the overhead wires came down at Watford Junction, blocking all four tracks there," he said.
"So not a good weekend for us, and our customers in particular."
