Unlimited iTunes downloads

Unlimited iTunes downloads
Apple Unlimited Downloads. Apple is in talks with record companies to provide customers with unlimited downloads. This means that iTunes users could soon get the same song they purchased as many times as they want or need.

Apps can already be downloaded multiple times. Apple’s current deal with record companies restricts downloads to one per purchases. Apple is charged for each download. Recent reports that show digital music sales stalling as users turn to free streaming sources may influence the music companies to work with Apple, so that customers have more incentive to purchase music.

Bloomberg reports that such a deal would let iTunes users hold a permanent backup of their purchased music, as well as letting various devices linked to one account download previously purchased music. It would be iTune’s first step into the cloud.

Oprah not doing show in Egypt

Representatives for Oprah Winfrey have shot down reports the talk show queen is taping a future episode of her show in Egypt.

The country's new tourism minister Munir Fakhri Abdelnur reportedly told a local news station in Cairo that Winfrey was planning to broadcast a live show from Tahrir Square on "a Friday in March".

Tahrir Square became famous earlier this year when it turned into a meeting place for activists protesting the dictatorship of Egypt's now-ousted president Hosni Mubarak.

But Oprah's aides insist the talk show queen is not planning a trip to the Middle East.

A spokesperson for Winfrey's Harpo Studios tells WENN, "Reports about The Oprah Winfrey Show taping a future episode in Egypt are untrue. There are no plans for Ms. Winfrey or the show to broadcast from an international location before the program's finale in May."

Loughner gets new charges

Some lawyers are questioning the wisdom of many of the charges included in the new 49-count federal indictment against Tucson shooting suspect Jared Loughner. The raft of new federal charges was handed up by a grand jury on Thursday and released on Friday.

In addition to a charge of attempting to assassinate Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) at her January 8 outreach event in a Tucson Safeway parking lot, Loughner also faces murder charges for allegedly killing Gabriel Zimmerman and U.S. District Judge John Roll at the same event.

The edgier charges are those the feds used to bring the deaths and injuries to non-federal employees into the federal case. The indictment includes five counts of "causing death to participants in a federally provided activity"--one for Roll and four for civilians, including nine year old Christina-Taylor Green. In addition, Loughner faces ten counts of "injuring participants in a federally provided activity."
