Communities inland in mid-Atlantic states were getting hit hardest, with eastern Pennsylvania serving as the bull's-eye for the storm, said National Weather Service spokesman Chris Vaccaro. Some places got more than half a foot of snow, and towns near the Maryland-Pennsylvania border saw 10 inches fall.

Hhurricane Katia. Atlantic Hurricane Katia to Form This Week. While both flooding and recovery continues in the wake of Hurricane Irene, the National Hurricane Center is expecting a hurricane to form well out in the Atlantic this week.

The hurricane will be called Katia (assuming that no other named storms form first) and will face a long trek westward across the Atlantic. Even by the middle of the holiday weekend, it will be 600 to 800 miles to east of the U.S. coast and would pose no immediate threat. It will even be to the east of the Leeward and Windward islands (most likely to the northeast).

White House intern on ‘Idol’

White House intern American Idol show contestant. White House intern Molly DeWolf Swensen showed up for her American Idol audition. The show was in Milwaukee on Wednesday with Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, and Randy Jackson.

Swensen is one of the special ones this year because not only is she a White House intern, she is a Harvard graduate. She surprised everyone with her American Idol rendition of "Sittin' On The Dock of the Bay" with a low quality voice. Molly can sing and she's beautiful.

The American Idol Season 10 audtions were hosted in Milwaukee. There were many surprises that day. In fact, Swensen had to call out Randy Jackson for punching her in the face.
