Home Alone House Sold For $1.585 Million In 2012, It took almost a year, but a new owner has paid $1.585 million for the right to slide down the foyer stairs of the red-brick Winnetka Georgian immortalized in “Home Alone.”The home, put up for sale last May by owners John and Cynthia Abendshien for $2.4 million, sold Thursday. The home most recently had been listed for sale for $1.95 million.
The new owner wishes to remain anonymous, said Marissa Hopkins, the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage agent who listed the home. The sale has not yet been recorded with Cook County.
The 4,250-square-fot, 14-room home sits on a half-acre lot and features four bedrooms, 3.2 baths, a large screened-in porch and the staircase that a young Macaulay Culkin sledded down during John Hughes’ 1990 film.
