Jay-z Leaves $50,000 tip on a bottle of champagne at a Miami
nightclub, In Miami to celebrate the release of "Watch The Throne," his
collaboration with Kanye West, Jay-Z reportedly spent more than $300,000
on a night of drinking and carousing.According to People, Hova laid down a quarter-million dollars on Armand de Brignac champagne and then left a $50,000 tip for what had to have been pretty excellent service.
"After several rounds of reg bottles of ace of spade, Jay-z ordered the 15 liter #BOSS 100k," tweeted one of the party promoters.
The same night, Mr. Beyonce and his crew went to Scarpetta, the upscale Italian eatery in the Fontainebleau Hotel, where a plate of spaghetti and tomato sauce runs $24, and ordered thousands of dollars worth of pasta and tequila shots.
But while he was emptying his wallet, Jay-Z reportedly never seemed out of control.
"Jay-Z was well-behaved and laid low all night on a banquette with his entourage of boys," a source told People.
According to another report, the spending spree was in fact quite calculated.
"Jay knew that Mark Cuban spent over $100,000 after the Mavs won the championship a few months ago, and he wasn't about to be upstaged," a member of Jay-Z's camp told RadarOnline.com.
That seems like a bit of a stretch -- to spend that much just to show up Cuban. The "99 Problems" rapper not only had a new album to celebrate, but he was surely raising a glass to Forbes, which just named him the top hip-hop earner of the past year.
The magazine claimed the star took in $37 million from revenue streams including his chain of nightclubs, an advertising firm, a stake in the New Jersey Nets and a 10-year, $150 million deal with concert promotion behemoth Live Nation.
