Tiger Woods barefoot
Tiger Woods barefoot, Tiger Woods had a bit of a rough start at the Honda Classic Thursday (Feb. 28), bogeying holes one and four on the front nine amidst unusually cold and overcast weather conditions for the Florida course. It didn't look so good for him on the par-four sixth hole either, when Woods hooked his first shot into the water hazard. But the ball was playable, so Woods took off his shoes, put on his rain pants and played the ball out of the water hazard, saving par on the hole.
"It was only half submerged, so I could play some sort of explosion shot and get it back int eh fairway," says Woods, of his barefoot shot. "I wasn't trying to advance it very far, just get it back on the fairway and give myself some sort of wedge shot in there -- which I did and got up and down."
His back nine was better, with a couple birdies, leaving Woods at an even-par 70 for the first round, six shots back of leader Camilo Villegas.
