Jon Gruden rumors
Jon Gruden rumors, ESPN analyst reportedly ready to interview for open NFL jobs. ESPN Monday Night Football analyst and former NFL head coach Jon Gruden has said publicly he plans to stay with ESPN, but Gruden will interview with NFL teams, according to a report from Mike Freeman of CBSSports.com.Gruden, who has not coached since being fired by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following the 2008 season, could begin talking with teams as soon as Monday. While he has remained committed to ESPN publicly, Gruden's camp has quietly been talking to teams behind the scenes, according to Freeman's report.
According to the report, Gruden's camp informed teams he would be willing to talk following the regular season, making it known he is interested in returning to coach in the NFL. That doesn't, however, mean he would be open to any job, but would return for the right fit. Freeman pegs the Philadelphia Eagles and San Diego Chargers as two teams to watch.
In 11 seasons as a head coach, Gruden compiled a 95-81 record with five playoff appearances. Gruden's teams finished .500 or better in eight of his 11 seasons.
