Glenn Beck Rejected
Glenn Beck Rejected , Glenn Beck has been rejected in his bid to purchase Current TV, being told instead that he was not aligned to the network’s point of view.Current TV was recently purchased by Al Jazeera, news that prompted Glenn Beck to tweet about being rejected in his attempt to buy the network. Beck tweeted: “Before Al-Jazeera bought Current TV, TheBlaze looked into buying it but we were rejected by progressive owners.”
The Wall Street Journal also reported on Beck’s failed attempt to purchase Current TV, reporting that Beck’s news network The Blaze approached Current. Instead, Beck “was told that ‘the legacy of who the network goes to is important to us and we are sensitive to networks not aligned with our point of view,’ ” a person close to the negotiations told the Wall Street Journal.
Understanding the history of Current TV, it only makes sense that Glenn Beck was rejected, the Atlantic Wire noted:
“Well no kidding! Current TV is the network founded by former Democratic Vice President Al Gore, later anchored by progressive hero-villain Keith Olbermann and recently featuring liberal former New York governor Eliot “I Do What I Want” Spitzer. This is the network that Glenn Beck, the far-right fanatic that was too extreme for even Fox News to handle, wanted to buy. It’s entirely unclear how far negotiations between Beck and Current TV got, if anywhere beyond Current’s executives laughing TheBlaze crew out of the room.”
With Glenn Beck rejected, The Blaze will at least save on a hefty price tag that came along with Current TV. The network sold for a reported $500 million, well above what AOL paid for The Huffington Post close to two years ago.
