Prince Harry Gila Bend Pizzeria, Prince Harry made his first public appearance in Arizona on Friday night, dining at a local Italian restaurant, the owner said Sunday. The British prince came into the Little Italia Restaurant at 502 E. Pima Street around 7:30 p.m. with about 30 other people, owner Antonino Buccellato told KOLD News 13.
"When they called and said a group of 30 or so would be coming into the restaurant, I figured he would be in the group," Buccellato said.
Harry has been in the United States, military training in Apache helicopters in San Diego and Gila Bend, since Oct. 7. He has been at the Gila Bend Air Force Auxiliary Field for nearly two weeks.
The 27-year-old son of Prince Charles and late Princess Diana ordered meat lovers pizza.
"He told my manager, 'That's the best pizza in the world,' " Buccellato said.
The restaurant is located off Interstate 8 about 60 miles west of Casa Grande.
"We get a lot of traffic off the freeway," Buccellato said. "Now, when people find out Prince Harry was here, we'll probably get a lot more."
The owner said major media outlets in the United States and Britain have been calling him.
"It's been crazy," he said.
Buccellato missed the prince's visit. He was caught in Friday's dust storm at home.
"Maybe he will come again," Buccellato said.
