Obscene graffiti found on British palace
Kensington palace graffiti 1902 During restoration work on the ceiling by the palace’s front door, a beam has been uncovered, dated 1/2/1902 which reads: “Peter Jackson, The Champion F***er!”
It’s not clear whether the author is Peter Jackson (clearly not THAT Peter Jackson) or someone who really doesn’t like Peter Jackson, but whoever it is, you have to admire his nerve.
A Kensington Palace spokeswoman told the Telegraph (who have a picture of the beam in question): “It appears that the graffiti may have been left by an earlier contractor responsible for refurbishment or redecorating works at the palace over a century ago. Kensington palace William and Kate
“Curators have carried out research in an attempt to find out more about Mr Jackson and his role at Kensington Palace, but without any luck.”
Lee Prosser, Buildings Curator at Historic Royal Palaces added: “When this was written he must have thought he was perfectly safe, that nobody in the world would ever lay eyes on it again.
“Sadly, we don’t know very much about Peter Jackson, but evidently he, like many others throughout history, could not resist the temptation to leave his mark on a royal palace.”
Sadly the beam is now partly rotten, so ‘Peter’s contribution to the Palace has been taken out and preserved, presumably for future generations to enjoy.
