Kyle Busch suspended
Kyle Busch suspended, Kyle Busch was suspended from weekend racing events after causing a collision after pushing his truck into Ron Hornaday Jr.'s despite a caution flag Friday night, NASCAR president Mike Helton announced.

"After a good deal of conversation and discussion, NASCAR decided to maintain the parked position for the balance of the weekend," Helton announced Saturday morning at the Texas Motor Speedway media center. "Kyle will not be participating today and tomorrow in Texas."

Busch will be out of Saturday's Nationwide Series event and Sunday's Sprint Cup race after his truck pushed Hornaday Jr.'s into wall during Friday night's Camping World Truck Series event.

Helton made the announcement after meeting with Busch and team owner Joe Gibbs.

Denny Hamlin will take the wheel on the No. 18 Nationwide car Saturday and Michael McDowell will drive the No. 18 Toyota car on Sunday.

Busch did not speak to the media after the announcement, leaving out a side door while Gibbs told reporters, "When you own something and you're responsible, you're responsible. I take full responsibility for it."

The drivers had been racing for position early in Friday's race when Hornaday Jr. bumped Busch's truck twice, nudging Busch's truck to the outside wall. That's when the caution flag emerged, yet Busch accelerated and pushed his truck into Hornaday Jr.'s truck.

He kept pushing Hornaday Jr.'s truck until it slammed into the wall, with Busch's truck doing the same.

Helton said it was the kind of move that necessitated the suspension.

"We understand the ripple effect to this type of move," Helton said. "But we take our responsibility very serious about maintaining control of the event.

"… The responsibility that over the past two or three seasons we've given back to the drivers came, I think, with a very clear understanding that there could be a line that got crossed. And, as annoying as the comments that I've made personally in the past, about 'We'll know it when we see it,' might have been, we saw it last night."
