GarageBand app released for iPhone, An app for GarageBand has been released for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

The MacOS X software is already available on iPad, proving to be a successful tool for users to create music on the go.

Apple marketing executive Phil Schiller said in a statement: "GarageBand on iPad has been a big hit and we think customers will love using it on their iPhone or iPod touch.

"The innovative Multi-Touch interface combined with Smart Instruments makes it easy to create great sounding music, even if you've never studied music or played an instrument before."

The iPhone version will cost £2.99, the same as the iPad counterpart, and those users who have already downloaded the tablet edition can download it onto their phones for free.

GarageBand for iPhone will enable users to plug guitars, keyboards and other instruments into their handsets to lay down tracks.

It also includes a vast selection of built-in sounds to use in compositions. GarageBand for iPhone can be purchased through the App Store.
