She told New York Magazine, "People honestly think I'm kidding about Bieber. My mom is so confused. She's like, 'Evan, really?'
I'm like, 'Go see Never Say Never. You'll understand.'"
She makes that point again in Marie Claire.
Evan also says she has finally grown into red carpet fashion.
The actress - who is nominated for an Outstanding Supporting Actress Emmy for her role as Veda Pierce in 'Mildred Pierce' - has come a long way from
the half-gothic styled girlfriend of shock rocker Marilyn Manson to become a red carpet beauty, and says it's all part of growing up.
She told People.com: "I think when I started getting older and started feeling like I wanted to express myself as a woman and to do what made me feel beautiful."
"I was just having fun really. I wasn't feeling pressured to do certain things. I just felt like I was expressing myself. I think it just happens naturally."
She also admitted she has been looking for a red carpet dress for the Emmy awards, which take place on Sunday 9/17, since August.
She added: "I've started looking. I've gotten some offers, and I don't know. Right now I'm just looking for what feels like me.
"[I've seen] some really beautiful dresses, they're just not me. So, I don't know. I'm keeping my eye out. I'll see it and that'll be it."
