The boy also stole chocolate and crisps from a Hackney shop on 8 August, Thames Magistrates' Court heard.
The boy, who admitted violent disorder and theft, was ordered to help clear up damage caused during the riots.
His defence solicitor said the boy had been scared of other youths and the bottles he threw had not hit officers.
Taiwo Adesina, prosecuting, said the boy had also been seen to throw items at passers by, along with around 50 to 52 others.
"On at least four occasions, he threw bottles and hurled missiles at the police," said Mr Adesina.
Tim Spooner, defending, told the court the boy had been playing football when a "slightly older boy" had told him to "come with me".
He said the boy had said he felt afraid of the other youths and the bottles he threw fell "well short" of police officers.
