Simon Gregson dyes hair pink. Coronation Street star Simon Gregson has dyed his hair pink to help raise money for a cancer charity. The actor, who plays hapless Steve McDonald in the soap, agreed to change his brown locks for hairdresser pal Stephen Peel, who is fundraising for The Christie cancer fund.Peel tells The Sun, "I asked Ricky Hatton, the boxer. He said he'd donate boxing gloves but he wasn't having his hair dyed pink!

"I asked Simon and he said, 'Yeah, why not?'"

Gregson was spotted with pink hair outside the Ashton under Lyne salon - but is now sporting his natural colour again to avoid disrupting filming of the soap.
