Experts in marine life have claimed that monsters, such as the Loch Ness monster and the Abominable Snowman, which have been sighted in records, might actually exist in reality.Because scientists are still finding new species of underwater life, the discovery of 'marine monsters' is not impossible, the experts said.

"The huge number of 'sea monster' sightings now on record can't all be explained away as mistakes, sightings of known animals or hoaxes," the Daily Mail quoted palaeontologist Dr Darren Naish of the University of Portsmouth, as saying.

Some experts are convinced of the existence of the Abominable Snowman called Yeti, a hairy ape-like creature who lives in the Himalayas.

Loch Ness Monster or Nessie (affectionately known by locals) reportedly dwells in the cold, murky depths of Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands.

Believers say it is the longest surviving plesiosaur - a carnivorous, aquatic reptile.

Big Foot also called Sasquatch haunts the Pacific northwest of the U.S.

This large mammal was most recently sighted in Pennsylvania in 2007, but a park-keeper dismissed it as a 'bear with a severe case of mange'.

"Because large marine animals continue to be discovered - various new whale and shark species have been named in recent years - the idea that such species might await discovery is, at the very least, plausible," noted Dr Naish.

These claims were made in a meeting entitled 'Cryptozoology: Science or Pseudoscience?' of the Zoological Society of London.
