The couple, who have a 24 year age gap between them, made headlines when they were first spotted holidaying together in Cabo San Lucas after a flirty lunch date in Los Angeles.
They attended a White House Correspondents' Dinner party in Washington in April, and were seen together in LA.
Speculation about the pair's break-up began after Scarlett, 26, didn't attend the Cannes Film Festival with the 50-year-old actor for his latest film, The Tree Of Life.
It is thought that she has been busy working on The Avengers in New Mexico, where she reprises her role as Black Widow from Iron Man 2.
